SDLP FOYLE MP Mark Durkan has extended his “warmest congratulations” to Dean Morton on being appointed to such an esteemed position as Dean and Ordinary of St Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin.
The appointment of Dean William Morton to the lofty post in Dublin was announced earlier this week by the Church of Ireland.
Said Mr Durkan: “Dean William is a warm pastor of great community spirit and strong civic engagement.
“As he moves to a new role of national eminence he will be missed locally, not just by the chapter and congregation of St Columb’s Cathedral, the diocese and his pastoral colleagues in other churches, but by all of us in the city who trust him as a modest leader and value him as an honest friend.
“I will also miss Rosemary and himself as good neighbours to my constituency office on Bishop Street.”
