SINN Féin Housing spokesperson Councillor Tony Hassan has welcomed the news that some of the 85 new social homes will be ready for allocation at the end of February.
He was speaking after visiting the Fold housing Development at Glenabbey (Skeoge).
Said Cllr Hassan: “This is a good news story for social housing provision in Derry and for the hundreds of people on the homeless waiting list.
“When these 85 social homes are ready at the end of February this will bring the number of social homes that Fold housing has developed at the Skeoge Lands to 320.
“I have to congratulate the Fold Housing Association and also the Developers Braidwater for all the new builds of social homes that is happening at the Skeoge lands, I am aware that Fold are planning more new builds in the near future.
“The number of people waiting for a home in the city has increased dramatically over the past few years and these houses will go some way to alleviating that problem,” added Cllr Hassan.
