THE PSNI has issued advice to help prevent young people from falling under the spell of sexual predators and abusers.
Paedophiles use the internet and social media pages such as Facebook to try and start a relationship with an underage person.
They also try and befriend families in the hope of getting near to their children to sexually abuse.
A PSNI spokesman in Foyle said: “The police Public Protection Unit does really important and difficult work in investigating child sexual exploitation and abuse.
“Having conversations with children about appropriate contact can help to prevent abuse and grooming in the first place.
“Here’s a great resource from Play Therapy NI.
“It might help you to have a conversation with your child this half term.”
