DERRY teenager Soak is the running for a music award.
Real name Bridie Monds-Watson, Soak has received the Mercury Prize nomination for her debut album Before We Forgot How To Dream.
After receiving her nomination, Soak took to Twitter saying: “Life is crazy. Thank you.”
The singer-songwriter, who started writing the album when she was 14, has won a legion of fans at home and abroad for her stark, confessional ballads, which document her turbulent teenage years.
The 19-year-old was born in Belfast but was brought in Derry by her family.
A member of the LGBT community, she applauded Ireland’s decision to vote for gay marriage.
She attacked the North where she couldn’t get married legally: “Ten minutes down from road from my home I could get legally married. It’s crazy.”
