DETECTIVES from the PSNI’s Terrorist Investigation Unit (TIU) have released a man who was arrested yesterday as part of their investigation into the INLA paramilitary funeral of Peggy O’Hara in Derry in July.
Officers detained a 53 year old man and a 44 year old woman in Derry under section 41 of the Terrorism Act.
Both were taken for questioning to the serious crime suite in Antrim.
The man has now been released unconditionally.
The woman remains in custody.
Detectives also carried out searches in the Creggan area and removed a number of items for examination.
A masked INLA man fired a volley of shots over Mrs O’Hara’s coffin outside her Templegrove home on July 15.
Masked male and female INLA members accompanied her remains to the City Cemetery following her Requiem Mass in St Columba’s Church, Long Tower.
She was the mother Derry INLA hunger striker Patsy O’Hara.
The 23-year-old died on May 21, 1981 after refusing food for 61 days.
