GARDAI are carrying out searches this evening linked to a foiled bomb attack on a police officer in Derry.
Boiler-suited Gards and sniffer dogs are combing fields around Killygordon in the Finn Valley area of east Donegal.
They are looking for any discarded items which may have thrown from a car.
The searches are in response to the arrests of three men earlier today in Co Donegal in connection with the discovery of a bomb under a policeman’s car in Derry this morning.
The murder bid was foiled after police reported suspicious activity in the area around a house at Glenrandel, Eglinton around 2.45 am.
The three suspects were arrested along the border after crossing from the North.
They have been taken for interview to both Letterkenny and Milford Garda stations but no other details are available at present.
They are being questioned under the Offences Against the State Act for up to 48 hours.
The Garda’s Special Detective Unit is liaising with the PSNI’s Terrorist Investigation Unit based at Derry’s Maydown station over the arrests.
