Sinn Féin MLA Cathal Ó hOisín has said his party will continue to support the development of Irish medium post primary school, Coláiste Dhoire.
Speaking ahead of today’s debate on the Dungiven meánscoil in the Assembly, the East Derry MLA said: “Parents of children at bunscoileanna in the area will be at Parliament Buildings to meet with Sinn Féin MLAs in support of Education Minister John O’Dowd’s Coláiste Dhoire proposal.
“They will be joined by members of the school’s development committee and Irish language activists from county Derry and across the North.
“Those opposed to the development of Coláiste Dhoire have wrongly claimed the Western and Eastern education and library boards are against the plans which is not the case.
“Comhairle na Gaelscolaíochta, the body with responsibility for Irish language provision is fully supportive of the development of Coláiste Dhoire.
“Sinn Féin has consistently supported Coláiste Dhoire and the provision of Irish medium education and we will continue to do so by opposing this motion.”
