A Sinn Fein delegation has met with senior officials from Roads Service to relay “scathing criticism” about the ongoing roadworks in Bridge Street in Strabane.
During the meeting which took place in the offices of Strabane District Council this morning, local Sinn Fein representatives, Michaela Boyle MLA, Karina Carlin, Michelle McMackin, Dan Kelly and Maolíosa McHugh, expressed concern at the “sheer lack of urgency” and progress since work on the scheme recommenced on the second week of last month.
As a result of the meeting, Roads Service committed to introducing a two-way flow on Bridge Street later today until tomorrow evening and also next Friday and Saturday evenings.
Speaking after the meeting, Cllr Carlin said Roads Service had also “crucially” agreed to liaise with Traffic Management to look at measures in an effort to address ongoing gridlock at the Railway Road/Asda roundabout.
