Future entrepreneurs from Fountain Primary School in Derry have been awarded a top business prize from local charity Young Enterprise Northern Ireland.
Primary 5 pupils took part in the “Our City” programme learning the features of a city and the key industries required to make it successful.
The students were then tasked with developing a concept and business plan for a new restaurant.
Their concept and business plan was selected as the winning entry for the North West area.
The group represented the school at the Our City Competition at W5 in Belfast where they presented their business plan to a panel of four volunteer judges from ICT firm Eircom along with 150 young people from across Northern Ireland.
Young Enterprise NI brings together companies and classrooms, encouraging students to be creative and begin to develop entrepreneurial qualities at a young age.
Mark Nixon, a member of the judging panel commented on the quality of the entries. “There were quite a variety of entries and some fantastic ideas throughout all of them.”
Young Enterprise NI is a charity and is principally funded by the Department of Education. For more information, including volunteering and fundraising opportunities please visit www.yeni.co.uk.
