Derry college Lumen Christi has won a prestigious public speaking competition for the second year in succession.
Year 12 student Eve McCully ensured the Hazel Cathcart Memoial Cup would be staying in the Bishop Street college when she was awarded first place in the Derry final of the Soroptimist International Northern Ireland Public Speaking Competition. The award was won last year by Claire Bradley.
Eve presented her speech on the topic “Education is the most important weapon to change our world”- Nelson Mandela.
Eve will now go forward to complete in the Northern Ireland final to be held in Glenlola Collegiate School, Bangor on 22 February next year.
